Texting and driving is one of the most common driving distractions. And it can be deadly. So to ensure safe driving, people are turning to phone apps like DriveMode.
DriveMode, which is used with Android and BlackBerry phones, sends an automatic text message reply to anyone who texts you when your automobile is going 25 mph or faster. In addition, all calls, except those from specific numbers the user can specify, automatically go to voicemail. The app allows the user to dial 911 at any time. AT&T offers this app for free as part of its Don’t Text and Drive pledge.
Other phone apps that can stop you from texting and driving include Textecution, an Android app that goes to work when the automobile is moving more than 10 mph. The tXtBlocker app, which works with multiple smartphone platforms, allows you to customize the times of day when you won’t be accepting texts or phone calls. Finally, DriveSafe.ly works a little differently — it reads your phone calls and texts to you in real time and sends an auto response.
